The Yellow Flag Iris is one of our most handsome and distinctive wild flowers, a feature of wet places and watersides. It has stiff broad leaves that have a raised midrib. Up to a dozen bright yellow flowers with purple veins - but only a few open at any one time - during May-July. It produces a fleshy rhizome forming large clumps with stems 50-150cms tall.
